This week in the PWHL was a race for first place between the Minnesota Frost, the Boston Fleet, and the Montreal Victoire!
The NCAA National Championship between Wisconsin and Ohio State was a banger and made me even more excited for the future of the PWHL!
Seattle Torrent completed their first ever trade with the Boston Fleet, and I did my first ever PWHL watch party livestream!

🌠 PWHL Weekly Recap
📺 This week’s results

Tue, Mar 17: Toronto defeats Boston 2-0
📍 Boston
A Boston Fleet home game on St. Patty’s day with the Winn brothers doing the puck drop… I just know the vibes were crazy.
Sceptres goaltender Raygan Kirk posted her second shutout in a row. The Sceptres have been unstoppable since the Olympics, with 4 regulation wins and 2 overtime losses, and moved into the 4th playoff spot.
This was Jessie Eldridge’s first ever game as a Fleet, after being traded from the Torrent.

Wed, Mar 18: Minnesota defeats Ottawa 5-0
📍 St. Paul
Minnesota Frost absolutely crushed the Ottawa Charge, scoring 4 times in the first period😭
The Charge made a goalie change after the third goal, replacing Gwyneth Philips with Kendra Woodland, who played in her first-ever PWHL game.
Wed, Mar 18: Vancouver defeats New York 5-2
📍 Vancouver
Vancouver fans saw the return of the iconic Flying V celly!
The huge Vancouver - Ottawa trade seems to be paying off, as Anna Shokhina and Mannon McMahon both scored their first goals as Goldeneyes. Goldeneyes’ Anna Segedi also got her first ever PWHL goal!
Thu, Mar 19: Montreal defeats Seattle 4-1
📍 Laval
Theresa Schafzahl got an assist in her first game as a Seattle Torrent after being traded from the Boston Fleet!
Laura Stacey had 2 goals and an assist, including an epic jailbreak goal!
After this win, Victoire, Frost, and Fleet were all tied for first place in the standings!

Sat, Mar 21: Minnesota defeats Vancouver 3-1
📍 Vancouver
Minnesota Frost kept rolling with their 5th straight win, scoring twice on the power play.
Manon McMahon fought to get the Goldeneyes back into this game, scoring her second goal of the week on an awesome backhand, but Britta Curl-Salemme got the empty net goal to seal the deal for the Frost.

Sat, Mar 21: Boston defeats Seattle 3-0
📍 Boston
Corinne Schroeder kept the Torrent in this one, with 25 saves on 26 shots through the first two periods.
Despite being a Torrent fan, I was happy to see the Fleet win, because they had their largest home crowd ever and they got to have their logo at center ice. Congrats to Aerin Frankel, who earned her fifth shutout of the season, setting a new single-season PWHL record.
Sun, Mar 22: Montreal defeats Ottawa 2-1 in OT
📍 Winnipeg
This was a huge bounce-back win for the Ottawa Charge! The Charge won in OT in front of a sold-out crowd of 15K in Winnipeg! The rivalry got heated at the end of the game, but it was Rebecca Leslie who scored the game-winner for the Charge.

📈 Standings

GP= games played, GR= games remaining, PTS=points (determines standings), W=Win (3 points), OTW=overtime win (2 points), OTL=overtime loss(1 point), L=loss (0 points), PCT=points percentage, GF=goals for, GF=goals against.
Frost and Fleet are tied for first place, but Frost holds the tiebreaker (regulation wins).
The top four teams make the playoffs. Read my explanations of standings and draft order (gold plan).
👑 Tops and Bottoms of the Week
Top 🔝: Minnesota Frost. Frost had two more regulation wins this week to extend their win streak to 5 and claim first place in the standings.
Bottom 💔: Seattle Torrent. Honestly, I have to resist putting Torrent on the bottom every week 😢 Two more regulation losses, Torrent still has yet to win a road game in regulation, Mikyla Grant-Mentis placed on LTIR, and even though I am excited about Theresa Schafzahl, I am sad that Jessie Eldridge was traded away.

🏆 Wisconsin Badgers Win Back-to-Back National Championships!
KK Harvey and Laila Edwards won back-to-back national championships (and their third championship together) in their last game together as Wisconsin Badgers.
The Badgers got off to an early 2-0 lead, and Wisconsin goaltender Ava McNaughton was a brick wall, but Ohio State battled back with 2 goals in 2 minutes in the third period to tie it up. Wisconsin fourth-liner Claire Enright scored the game-winning goal and hit the dab celly!

⇄ How do Trades Work in the PWHL?
They Traded Away Pink Scrunchie
Seattle Torrent traded away Jessie Eldridge, who was tied for second in scoring on the team with Alex Carpenter for Boston Fleet’s Theresa Schafzahl, a more defensive forward who fits the team identity that the Torrent is trying to build.
Are Mid-season Trades Common in the PWHL?
The trade deadline is March 30. Trades in the PWHL are hard, because teams can’t trade future draft picks. Trades are typically player-for-player.
Do Players Have Any Say in Moving?
Players do not have any say in moving. According to the CBA (page 29), players have 48 hours to report to the new team.
Coming soon: Chicago & New York Trip!
