🏙️ Thank you, Chicago!

365 Hockey Twin!

Kalamazoo girls! From left to right: Lena (my twin sister), Leah (friend from Kalamazoo), and Ava (me!) March 25, 2026

I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan, which is halfway between Chicago and Detroit, and now my twin sister Lena lives there, so I visit really often. Lena went to the first Chicago takeover game back in December but this was our first time going to a PWHL game together!

Torrent won 4-1 🤯 but I highkey hate Allstate Arena. I think Chicago would be an amazing expansion city for the PWHL but I really hope that they don’t play in Allstate Arena.

PWHL 🤝 WNBA

Amanda is a women’s basketball content creator based in Chicago. I had been a fan of Amanda’s podcast Hoops & Healing, where she interviews other women in sports and talks about basketball and mental health. We just recorded an episode of her podcast together where we got to talk about the Chicago Takeover game experience and compare the PWHL and WNBA. Stay tuned for when the episode drops!

📺 First PWHL US National Broadcast!

The first ever US national broadcast was the Sirens vs Victoire game on Saturday, March 28 in Detroit, on ION. The Walter Cup finals will also be broadcast on ION. I made a video explaining how to watch ION (it’s free!).

🌠 PWHL Weekly Recap

📺 This week’s results

Tue, Mar 24: Boston shuts out Vancouver 2-0; Aerin Frankel is unreal 🤯

📍 Boston

Not only did Aerin Frankel post a 35-save shutout, but it was her second straight shutout and she beat her own record for number of shutouts in a season with 6 shutouts.

Laura Kluge of the Boston Fleet scored her first PWHL goal! Kristen Campbell was also spectacular in net for the Goldeneyes with 27/28 saves.

Wed, Mar 25: Montreal shuts out Minnesota 3-0; Victoire has the Frost’s number

📍 St. Paul

Victoire performs well in the regular season every year, but this year feels different. With veterans like Poulin and Ambrose out of the lineup, Victoire is getting contributions from Catherine Dubois, Hayley Scamurra, and Lina Ljungblom. Ann-Renée Desbiens continues to be outstanding.

Minnesota Frost is the most offensively strong team in the PWHL by far with 69 goals for at the time of writing, with Victoire tied for 2nd place with 59. Shutting down the Frost offense is no easy feat.

Is Victoire the key to defeating the Frost? Victoire has now won all 4 of their games against the Frost this year, shutting them out twice. A Victoire-Frost playoff series would be really fun…

Wed, Mar 25: Seattle defeats New York 4-1; Theresa Schafzahl my GOAT

📍 Chicago

Watch my full game recap!

Theresa Schafzahl, I’m sorry I doubted you! She got her first ever Torrent goal and had a 3 point night. Danielle Serdachny also got a goal and had a 3 point night. Cayla Barnes got her first goal of the season and Corrine Schroeder had an amazing night as well with 29/30 saves!

Casey O’Brien got an assist in her first night back from injury on the Sirens’ only goal, scored by Sarah Fillier. These two teams will face off again on April 4 at Madison Square Garden.

Fri, Mar 27: Boston shuts out Toronto 4-0; Aerin Frankel is STILL Unreal 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

📍 Toronto

3 straight shutouts, 7 shutouts on the season, what Aerin Frankel is doing this season is truly unprecedented. 🤯🐐

Liz Schepers had her first multi-goal game of her PWHL career. (You might know Schepers as the most clutch player in the PWHL, as she scored the game-winning goal to win the Walter Cup for Minnesota in 2024 AND 2025). Jessie Eldridge also got her first goal as a Fleet after being traded from the Torrent.

P.S. This game was lowkey spicy at the end!!

Sat, Mar 28: Montreal defeats New York 3-1; Detroit wants a team!

📍 Detroit

Not only was this the first ever PWHL US national broadcast, but it was the highest-attended PWHL game in Detroit ever, with 15,938 fans. I would be really surprised if the PWHL did not expand to Detroit next (see my full expansion predictions).

Catherine Dubois has been outstanding since being elevated to the top line due to injuries on the team, scoring two goals in this game, with a total of 4 goals in her last four games. Before this, Dubois played in the bottom six, famously scoring the game-winner in the quadruple OT 2025 playoff game.

Sun, Mar 29: Vancouver defeats Toronto 3-2; Goldeneyes are Lowkey Back?

📍 Toronto

With a regulation win over Toronto, Vancouver moved into a tie for 6th place with the Sirens. Former Toronto Sceptres Hannah Miller and Izzy Daniel scored, while Sarah Nurse got 2 assists. Emerance Maschmeyer returned from injury and made 25/27 saves. This was the Goldeneyes’ first road win in a team’s primary home venue (other road wins were in takeover games).

Blayre Turnbull scored twice for Toronto. Toronto also scored a power play goal! (Their PP has struggled and currently only sits at 9.6%).

Mannon McMahon scored the game-winner for Vancouver.

Sun, Mar 29: Boston defeats Minnesota 4-2; Fleet Clinches a Playoff Spot!

📍 St. Paul

Boston Fleet is on an absolutely generational run right now. Despite losing Hilary Knight in the expansion draft, Boston Fleet has surpassed everybody’s expectations and became the first team to clinch a playoff spot this year! This is especially impressive considering the heartbreaking way that they missed the playoffs on the last day of the regular season last year (watch my Youtube video about this).

Boston Goaltender Amanda Thiele won her first start in the PWHL with 21/23 saves!

Sophie Shirley has been electric for the Fleet since coming back from injury, with 3 goals in her last 2 games.

Frost captain Kendall Coyne-Schofield got 2 assists in her first game back from injury, assisting on Lee Stecklein’s first goal of the season, as well as a goal from Taylor Heise.

There was a spicy moment where Megan Keller went after Britta Curl-Salemme after Curl pushed Alina Müller over goalie Amanda Thiele 😬

Sun, Mar 22: Ottawa shuts out Seattle 2-0 in Front of 16K Torrent Fans & Moves Into the 4th Playoff Spot

📍 Seattle

Hilary Knight is back from injury! Unfortunately Torrent could not win at home in front of their 16K fans. There were literally so many penalties in this game and there was even a penalty shot which was stopped by Torrent goalie Corinne Schroeder. Torrent went 0/6 on the power play.

This was a masterclass from the Ottawa, as Gwyneth Philips earned her first shutout of the season and they had their first regulation win on the road. Sarah Wozniewicz and Peyton Hemp scored for the Charge. Ottawa Charge moved into the fourth and final playoff spot.

📈 Standings

x= playoff spot clinched, MAX = max points (PTS + 3*GR), GP= games played, GR= games remaining, PTS=points (determines standings), W=Win (3 points), OTW=overtime win (2 points), OTL=overtime loss(1 point), L=loss (0 points), PCT=points percentage, GF=goals for, GF=goals against.

The top four teams make the playoffs. Read my explanations of standings and draft order (gold plan).

🧠 Playoff Scenarios

Boston Fleet clinched a playoff spot! Sirens and Goldeneyes are now tied for 6th place, but the Sirens hold the tiebreaker (regulation wins).

I think Montreal can clinch a playoff spot this week if they get 3 points (regulation win against Vancouver or Ottawa). Surprisingly, Torrent isn’t actually that close to being mathematically eliminated yet.

The max column is the max number of points a team can get. Once a team’s points is higher (or equal to with the tiebreaker )than the 5th highest max, then they have clinched a playoff spot. For example, Fleet has 51 points. The current max for Sceptres, Sirens, Goldeneyes, and Torrent are 49, 48, 48, and 43 respectively. This means that there is no way that any of those bottom 4 teams could surpass Fleet.

Likewise, if a team’s max falls below the pts of the 4th ranked team, they are eliminated from playoff contention.

👑 Tops and Bottoms of the Week

Top 🔝: Boston Fleet. With 3 regulation wins, including 2 shutouts, Boston Fleet became the first team to clinch a playoff spot! Aerin Frankel now has 7 shutouts on the season and a .954 save percentage 🤯

Bottom 💔: New York Sirens. The Sirens are lowkey in trouble. They now have a losing streak of 4 games and are tied for 6th place with Vancouver. They need to start winning again soon if they want to make the playoffs.
